"Typical Tyrolean -
Traditional and full of history"
A hotel with history
Hotel Riedl, a traditional Tyrolean hotel with history
Feel the history when you stay with us: Hotel Riedl has been around for a long time.
Our great-grandfather, Christian Rettenwander, bought Riedlhof in 1930 and started welcoming guests. Home-style Tyrolean cuisine and sociable hours in the lounges are what made the Riedlwirt special.
In 1985 our great grandfather Christian Rettenwander expanded the then still somewhat small inn by 60 beds, establishing Hotel Riedl. Even these days, the family-run Hotel Riedl is an insider's tip for people who value cosiness, regionality and closeness to nature.
A strong connection with the local area and nature, as well as the Alpine atmosphere, have always shaped Hotel Riedl. These factors have always been reflected in the hotel's philosophy, interior design and gastronomy. It's the small details, and the special charm of our small hotel that make it so unique.
Made with love and passion
Over 100 years ago, Riedlhof was still a schoolhouse. The Kössen "Heimatbuch" (local history) has this to say: "In 1876 the municipality purchased a room in the centrally located building, later "Gasthof Riedl", and established the Niederbichl elementary school there. Children from a number of Kössen districts were taught here, until the new schoolhouse was built in 1902."
Consciously enjoy not needing to do anything: take your time, find peace, maybe drink a cup of tea or read a good book. Let yourself sink into one of the lounges in the lobby, and enjoy the calm atmosphere.
The jewel in our lobby is the small library, in which you can find exciting evidence of the past of Hotel Riedl: old guest books, photos and drawings have their places of honour there.
