Who's knocking?
The "Anklöpfler" like to come by before Christmas. These are small groups who go from house to house and perform Christmas carols. They sing songs about Mary and Joseph's search for shelter. On Christmas Eve, the "Anklöpfler" also visit us at the Riedl.
Rough nights
On Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and Three Kings' Day, people in Tyrol traditionally go through the courtyard, stable and house with a pan full of frankincense, myrrh and parts of the palm bush. This old tradition is said to bring protection for people and their homes. This old tradition is also kept alive and passed on here in Riedl. On Christmas Eve, this special scent wafts through the whole house.
